A lady who cares deeply about animal welfare heard about two pigs living in a family’s back garden who were being subjected to physical abuse. The parents permitted their two children to kick the pigs for fun, like a football. The pigs also doubled up as the family rubbish bin. They were being fed all kinds of waste products but mainly junk food and often meat. When they arrived here they were so fat they could not see as their flesh was so swollen and folded over their eyes. Their bellies displayed numerous sores as their flesh scraped along the floor. They could barely walk and were unable to run. To get the pigs off the family the lady paid them £300 as this was the only way she felt she could extract them.
It took one year for them to get back a pig shape and the flesh lifted off the ground and another year to get them to the point where they can run! They are still nervous around human beings but will now come up for food and stay eating if we stand by. One recently even permitted a soft hand stroke.
